Kick the habit
If you want long nails but can't resist a little nibble we are here to help you kick that habit! Quiting anything is hard but just keep thinking of those dreamy long talons you could have! Always cutting away any loose skin around your nails, and filing any ragged nails – get rid of temptation! Although you may try to convince yourself that biting the skin isn’t actually affecting the nail, this is incorrect. Damaging your nail beds can slow growth, and the moisture from your saliva can cause your nails to weaken.
Painting your nails with cute nail art, or decorating with nailscals. You are less likely to bite if it is going to ruin your hard work.
If you find you bite when bored, try chewing some gum to distract yourself and occupy your mouth.

Nails are jewels, not tools.
Stop using your nails for literally any task you can. Picking, scraping, opening, pinching – you get the idea – are now banned. Treat your nails right.
Treat yo self.
When on the quest for long strong nails, a lil bit of product can help you out. ALWAYS use a base coat and top coat. The base coat protects your nails from staining, helps the polish stich to your nails, and our Vitagel treatment adds strength and moisture. Your top coat prevents your nails from chipping – when your nail polish chips it causes a lil bit of damage to the top layer of your nails. When your nails do start to chip, remove the polish as soon as possible. Perhaps invest in some acetone-free pocket nail polish remover wipes.
If you have been following our blog you know what comes next – get yourself a cuticle oil. We preach the benefits of this stuff day in, day out. You can read more about why its so great here, and all about the best oils for nails here.
Its no surprise that what you eat and your overall health can affect how healthy your nails are. Eating plenty of Vitamin H (found in bananas, avocados, salmon, mushrooms and whole grains) promotes the growth and strength of hair, skin and nails. If you don’t fancy that menu you can always buy a vitamin H or Biotin supplement. Folic acid is also crucial for nail growth, as it helps keep your red blood cells healthy and prevents damage to your nerve cells. You can get your dose of folic acid from fish, red meat, cheese and fortified soy products. It also comes in supplement form.
